In my search to find the right windows for my home I sat with several representatives from leading window manufacturers.  Although I was satisfied with the quality of their product, I was never completely satisfied with the price and the installation information they gave me. I knew that even with the best made window, it is only as good as its proper installation.

I found R&K Building Supplies through an Internet search. I phoned and spoke with a sales representative and I was immediately impressed with his knowledge of windows and most of all he quoted me the best price. I want to extend my compliments to the entire crew who completed the work of replacing all 20 windows in 3 and 1/2 days.  The crew always arrived on time and always cleaned up at the end of each work day. The cuts in the interior sills, countertops and bathroom marble were as precise as could be. They were careful to minimize the amount of dust and debris in and out of the home. The interior and exterior drywall and stucco were perfectly textured and matched to the existing construction.

“I had a small load of lumber delivered yesterday and I wanted you to know how much I appreciated the help that everyone at R&K gave me. The load came earlier than I expected and I wasn’t there to direct the unloading. As a result the lumber was placed near the building addition instead of in the driveway. What the driver did was fine, he had no way of knowing where I wanted it and I had left no instructions on the delivery ticket. Given the circumstances he put it where it made the most sense.

Well, when I arrived and saw it I called my sales rep. I explained the situation and he took care of what would have been a big headache by sending your driver out to move it where I needed it. Otherwise, I would have had to move the lumber by hand this morning in order for my concrete delivery to get right up next to the foundation.

After a great deal of research and several bids, I decided on R&K for the installation of my new windows and front door.  I could not be happier.  The quality of the product is superior.  As important, the installation and service was been exemplary.  I know that sounds too good to be true; but, these guys meet that standard.

After having a couple of companies come out and provide me some quotes to replace our windows a friend asked if I had considered R&K for the job.  Upon calling R&K and telling them the measurements from the other companies (over the phone) I was provided a quote almost immediately. It happened to be the best the best price of the three.

We went to R&K to look at the windows and decided to upgrade from the standard style being quoted because of the tax rebates they may me aware of that would actually make the purchase price less than the standard style.

When the install expert came to take exact measurements, the first thing he asked was, "Do you have any windows with granite or tiles around them?"  We did in three windows. This not only changed the measurements of the windows he needed to order, but the degree of difficulty involved in the installation.  This wasn't even asked by the first two companies.

In the past year my family has become in tune with the growing concerns about the environment. We are trying to do our part in going green by recycling, using re-usable bags at the grocery store and changing out our standard light bulbs to fluorescent light bulbs.

To take it a step further I had R&K Building Supplies come and upgrade my doors, windows and insulation to make a bigger impact on reducing my family’s energy use. In the three months since we changed out our doors, windows, and added insulation to our attic, we have seen a drastic drop in our SRP bill each month because we are using less kilowatts of energy to keep our home comfortable. Even at a time when there has been a rate increase for the summer months, our bills are actually lower then they were at the same time last year. The savings have been great, but knowing that we are doing our share to go green and teach our three children about being responsible also matters.

The doors & windows I had on my house in Ahwatukee were the originals put in 10 years ago by the tract builder. They were low-end, cheap doors & windows that if you touched them in the summer could feel the heat coming right through them. They are the type of windows that most people have on their homes, as I have learned that most builders cut corners on these items. Needless to say they did little in terms of keeping the heat out.

The insulation in my attic was also not adequate. Over the 10 years of my home’s existence the original insulation put in the attic had dwindled down to nothing. A free in-home estimate by R&K Building Supplies showed me how poorly insulated my attic had become. For a very reasonable price I had R&K come out and over a four hour span they pumped about 12 inches of fiberglass insulation throughout the attic giving it the proper coverage it needed.

The combination of new doors, windows and insulation has led to tremendous savings, less energy use and a good feeling of my family doing our share.
